| Anti-Virus Facilities |
| |
Aussie Site Seeing scans incoming and outgoing messages for viruses. However
Aussie Site Seeing does not guarantee that every message will be scanned, or that
every virus will be detected and removed. Additionally, Aussie Site Seeing
reserves the right to remove attachments from incoming and outgoing
email messages if there is any indication that the attachment is, or
might be, infected with a virus.
Our virus scanning facilities provide a high level of
protection against viruses but you acknowledge and agree that you are
solely responsible for protecting your property and email accounts from
virus threats.
Our
system will:
- Block thousands of known viruses (such as BugBear, Klez etc)
- Block virus-like attachments
Attachments which end in any of the following are dropped:
adp,bat,com,cpl,lnk,pif,reg,scr,shs,wsc,wsf,wsh
Those are the ones which are both dangerous and unlikely to be sent for any valid reason.
Attachments which end in any of the following are NOT being dropped but a warning message will appear in the main message advising the recipient that opening the attachment could be dangerous.
The reason these are not being dropped is that we believe it is likely that
the files would be sent for valid reasons.
Regardless of the above rules, an attachment may be dropped if it appears to
be dishonestly reporting itself. For example, a .exe file with a content-type of
.wav, .jpg, etc would be dropped automatically. These need to be dropped because
they can infect a machine without the person explicitly choosing to open them.
Also, it is extremely unlikely that this sort of filename/ content-type
combination would be used for a valid reason.
Finally, while the overwhelming majority of messages passing through our
servers are scanned thoroughly for viruses, please note that the following
limits apply:
- Messages larger than 2 MB are not scanned - scanning very large attachments
is extremely resource intensive so is not appropriate in a shared hosting
environment. Please note however, that the vast majority of viruses are spread
in files smaller than 2 MB.
- If a message contains 4 or more binary attachments, then only the first
three are scanned. Again, this is a necessary limit to prevent overuse of
resources, and we anticipate that it will affect very few messages.

| Autoresponders |
| |
Autoresponders are a great marketing tool and can save you time
answering common questions. You can set up an autoresponder so that when a
message is sent to, say, info@yourname.com, then your pre-written message is
automatically returned to the sender. It can also notify the sender that their email has been received when you are unable to reply straight away.

Customer Mailing List Sign-up Form Page
|
| |
We design and configure an opt-in mailing list form on a separate page which is linked from your front page and allows your site visitors to sign up to receive your emails. The information that your visitors are signing up to receive will be detailed on the page in line with Australia's privacy regulations. Inputted data from your form is sent to your dedicated email address to make list maintenance less time consuming. If you are using mailing list software to manage your list, it can be configured to automatically input data received from your form. Top

| Domain Name |
| |
If you host your site with Aussie Site Seeing, we will register and configure your .com; .net; .org; .info; OR .biz Domain
Name. At Aussie Site Seeing all domain names we register
are registered in the customer's name. This means that for
the duration of the registration period YOU are the licence
holder of the domain name.
When the licence is due for renewal,
you will have to pay a renewal fee. If you do not renew the licence,
then it will become available for any eligible applicant to
register on a first come first served basis.
You can optionally upgrade your Domain Name to .com.au. (conditions and charges apply) You can use the Domain Name search box at the top of this page to see if your preferred name is available or visit our Domain Site AussieDotComs for more information about Domain Names.

| Email Aliases |
|
We can optionally set up your main email account so that any mail sent to an
unrecognized user at your domain is delivered to your main email address. This
can be very useful because it means you can use many different email aliases
without actually having to set them up explicitly. You can also give any email
account an unlimited number of email aliases so that when mail is sent to, say,
an_alias@yourname.com then you will receive the email at, say,
colleague@yourname.com (a real mailbox). Email aliases can be set up very
easily through our control panel.

| Error 404 Missing Document Page - Customisable |
|
When a visitor to your site tries to access a page that does not exist, they
will usually receive the server's default Error 404: File Not Found
message. If you prefer you can set up your account so that your own customized
'missing document' page is displayed instead, perhaps with a link to your home
page (or whatever you like).

| Gnu Privacy Guard (GPG) |
|
GPG (GNU Privacy Guard) is an OpenPGP compliant application which enables you
to encrypt data on your web site. It is compatible with PGP 5.x and has very
similar functionality. If you site comes with secure server access, we will
setup GPG for you for free.
If you intend to receive sensitive information over the web, SSL access alone
does not guarantee the safety of your data. SSL keeps the information safe as
it travels to your web site, but does not provide any protection once the data
arrives. GPG can be used to immediately encrypt the data when it arrives at
your web site - you only decrypt it once you have downloaded it to your hard
drive. That gives you peace of mind knowing that the information your customers
enter into your secure form will be safe all the way across the web.
We install a special version of FormMail on your secure server so that, when
you receive sensitive information via your secure server, you can have the
information immediately encrypted and mailed to you in encrypted form. Once you
have retrieved your mail from the server, it can be easily and safely decrypted
on your hard drive using your PGP or GPG software.

| Subscribable Mailing List |
|
Mailing lists are programs which automate the management of Internet mailing
lists. Commands are sent via electronic mail to handle all aspects
of list maintainance. Once a list is set up, virtually all operations can be
performed remotely, requiring no intervention upon the postmaster of the list
site.
Here's a short list of some of the features:
- Supports various types of lists, including moderated lists
- All list management activities are handled by email
- Supports confirmation of subscriptions, to protect against forged
subscription requests
One subscribable mailing list (with up to 1,000 subscribers) is included with
each Site Seeing Giant account.

|
If you have built your site with FrontPage and you are using any FrontPage
active elements such as hit counters, search forms and so on, then you will need
to have the FrontPage Server Extensions installed on your site. The server
extensions also make it possible for you to publish your site using FrontPage,
and allow you to edit your site directly on the internet using FrontPage. Our
servers support the server extensions for Microsoft FrontPage 2002/2000/98/97.
The extensions are available for free on all accounts.
